Thankfully I think we have everything sorted and stored so we can enjoy the holiday with our families before packing up to go. New school and new life here we come!

Getting Ready to Roll!

Only two weeks...yes, 14 days...until we ar eon our way. honor of this, here is an ode to the fantabuloso passport photo that is a definite prerequisite to travel. It can only be trumped by the time honored tradition of a horrible driver's license photo....and oh yes, i have a new one of those too! (No glasses, hair behind ears and all!

New Goodies

More scrapbooking today! After weeks of streamlined layouts, I ended up reverting to my old multilayered approach. And today that was a great thing. Here is what I came up with! And now, I am going to get up and move. My behind is getting numb from all this computer time!

I Love Fall!!!

There will definitely be more pictures of this day to come. We all had a blast jumping in the leaves and taking turns raking. I was trying to get a picture of Nev with the leaves around her as she was throwing them in the air...but this mama did not get the shot! But....this mama also knows a bit about here is Nev throwing her leaves sky high!

Flower Girl

A little project of my lovely girlie...from this summer's wedding. She did so well and went down the aisle, scattering her petals just as she was supposed to. The dress eventually got "too itchy" but it sure was cute on her!

H is for Helper

I have a little girl who loves to help. She dearly loves to "wash" the dishes, set the table, and dust....well, most of the time anyway. (She is a preschooler after all...cut her some slack!) I just love her sweetness and how willing she is to share and to initiate it herself! is to the Bells, one for you so that we can remember how it was to have a just barely 3 year old sweeping in the kitchen.

Back in the Swing

Was gone for a few weeks to my brother's wedding (!) and now back into craziness. Here are a few layouts that I did this week.
Also coming of several winter dresses I am making for my girls out of old T-shirts. I wish I were little enough to wear something so cozy!
And first tutorial is coming up. As soon as I can remember to take a camera to the grocery store with me( now doesn't that make you curious?)
Off this evening to a weekend of family reunionish fun. Yay!

I am so excited about these cutie jammies I made this week. They are made of recycled T-shirts and mark an epoch in my sewing journey...first reverse applique! The best was quick (can I get an amen?!).

My tip for easy sewing of quick things for kiddos? Use an existing hem! I REALLY hate hemming, especially knits. They always seem puckery and not professional looking. So...I cheat (yes. this is definitely a draw in the repurposing-old-clothing-into-new kick that I am currently on.)
See the photo below...I cut the pieces out by laying the edges that would need to be hemmed on the already hemmed edge of the old shirt that I am using for the fabric. Then all that remains to be done is to sew up the side seams and stitch ribbing around the arm/neck holes (on a shirt) or add elastic in a casing to the waist (in shorts).

Then your munchkin can run around outside in the newly completed jammies! Yes, they did eventually make it to bedtime, but's hard to get a good photo in near darkness! Incidentally, the dress that big sis is wearing is a refashion too--a men's shirt turned into dress that is super comfy and cute.

Happy lazy day sewing!

We are so blessed to have an amazing children's zoo so close to us. A few weeks ago we went with family and had a great time. It was HOT!! Let's just say that the African Adventure felt like Africa.

But we got to feed the giraffe! It was amazing to offer the lettuce and watch it reach out and grab was RIGHT there!

Did you know that giraffes have extremely long tongues that they wrap around their food to grasp it and pull it into their mouths? I don't think the kids (or me either) will ever forget that!

Well, Hello There!

We have been privileged to have a momma robin make her nest on the wreath right outside our door. We try not to bother her much, but these littles are just so cute we have to peek now and then. Isn't it amazing how God has created life to bring forth life?
